My Beliefs

Foremost, I must humbly confess my fallibility at the very start and welcome your correction and instruction. I sincerely invite your comments. I commit to prayerfully, studiously consider each and every one. I implore you to personally dive in and diligently search the Scriptures. Study and approve for yourselves God’s truth. Draw near to our personal God and you will be blessed with relationship, purpose, and answers for your life.

Attempting to put together a summary of my beliefs has been a difficult undertaking. I would much rather you see them than read them. I have never been formally trained in Bible, biblical languages, or even writing, for that matter. It is my hope that the accumulation of these posts reveal a heart authentically committed to God.

It is my prayerful goal that this be a ministry led by the Holy Spirit. I am dependent upon Him for direction, understanding, and insight in my study of God’s inspired Word. I pray that the truth He reveals is rightly perceived and conveyed. Frequently, however, I jump in the way - with my flawed and scarred life experience - and find that I often express through the lens of that misguided, world-formed opinion. I admit honestly that my knowledge and faith are lacking and have expansive room for growth. If any encouragement is found, may God alone be praised!

Having said all that, I press on to lay bare before you a faith in the making…

God is very much alive and sovereign in His creation. Jesus is very much alive in His Church. The Holy Spirit is very much alive in our submissive hearts. I personally see God as my Father and Strength; Christ as my Husband and Lord of my life; and the Holy Spirit as my Most Helpful Guide and Friend.

I believe God has revealed Himself to man through His creation, His Word, and His Beloved Son. I believe in the perfect unity of all His divine attributes; that He is the unchangeable, one true Jehovah-God; Sovereign; All-Sufficient; All-Powerful; The Infinite I AM. One personality of the mysterious Trinity—well beyond my limited comprehension and literary expression. They are Infinitely Great, Eternal and uncreated.

I believe Jesus – fully God and fully man - to be the Christ; the Anointed, Promised Messiah of God; King of His Kingdom; Lord of all Lords. Savior of the world and my only righteousness.

I believe God is His Father, and the virgin Mary, His mother. I believe He lived a perfect, sinless, and sacrificial life of love and obedience to His Father. I believe His atonement for my sins and the sins of mankind to be complete. Only through Him do we receive redemption and salvation. Only He is able to reconcile our self-broken relationship with a Holy Father.

I believe He died – crucified - was buried and rose the third day. I believe He ascended to the right hand of the Father and acts as our Intercessor and Mediator. I believe His promise of eternal life, a new heaven and new earth to come, and that He will return to gather His faithful followers.

I believe the Father sent the Holy Spirit, in the name of the Son, to be our Comforter and Helper, to live holy, obedient, regenerated lives. That He empowers and enables the ordinary to be used of God.

I believe in His infallible Word-of-All-Truth, the Holy Bible. I firmly believe and attest to Its inerrancy and authority.

I believe in the reality of heaven and hell as an eternal dwelling dependent upon our choice to accept Jesus as our Savior while we are alive.

I believe every individual must choose to believe, confess, and be baptized by immersion to receive salvation—the free gift of God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. I believe that Christians are to live repentant lives, to live according to the example of Jesus and the teachings of the apostles, as recorded in the New Testament.

I believe I am to actively show and share what I profess—bearing fruit in the name of Christ, by the power of the Spirit, to the glory of God.

The only real confidence I have is in knowing God is trustworthy. Not only has He proven Himself faithful in history but in my life.

I know I certainly am not worthy, nor qualified, in devoting this effort to Him, and I tremble at the thought that in representing Him I am risking my Lord’s glorious name and honor. However, trusting in His mercy, I am committed to knowing my Lord, learning, maturing in love and faith, and sharing His truth passionately in these dire end times.

I was shown mercy so that in me,
the worst of sinners,
Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience
as an example for those who would believe on him
and receive eternal life.
