Lying lulled by His love and hushed by grace,
In the quiet I hear creation’s song of praise
And join in this benediction refrain.
My mind repeats a verse from Psalm 149
And I feel God bundle me
In garlands of grace.
“God delights in His people,
Festoons plain folk
With salvation garlands!”
Repeat that back to yourself,
Nice ‘n slow.
God delights in you.
Yes, just plain ole folks.
And He drapes a garland of salvation
‘Round about you.
“Festoons,” so The Message translates.
He decorates,
adorns,
beautifies the humble
with salvation glory.
What to echo?
What tribute to reply?
Offer, in return
Your own garland.
Thread thanks with praise,
In reverence and love,
And hear in the still
A canon of worship.
