Only God!
Only God would make a promise . . .
. . . and then make a promise about that promise…
…and keep it!
So, yesterday we looked at the promised birth of a Savior.
Today, it’s the promise God gave about that Savior:
“She will bear a son,and you shall call his name Jesus, forhe will save his people from their sins.”[Mt 1:21 ESV emph mine]
Now that is one grand rescue! That deliverance is THE greatest there is! We need saving from our sins more than any other singular thing.
The guilt,
the shame,
the penalty,
the stain,
the power,
the weight,
of our sins are
FORGIVEN.
“as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”
A promised Savior…
… and a promise to save us from our sins…
…JESUS!
No one else could!
Do the dark clouds o’er shadow your pathway?
Have you no hope beyond the dark grave?
Carry your sins and burdens to Jesus,
Jesus is strong and able to save.
Sorrowing one, oh, flee to the Savior,
Hide you from sin’s dark, turbulent wave;
He will conduct you upward and homeward,
Jesus is strong and able to save.
Jesus is willing,
Mighty and ready,
Victor o’er sin and death and the grave;
He can redeem you,
Pardon and heal you,
Jesus is strong a able to save.
